Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald, Folklore
Specialist Consultant:
Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald is author of over 50 books on
folklore and storytelling topics, including The Storyteller’s Start-up
Book (August House) ; The Storyteller’s Sourcebook: A Subject,
Title, and Motif-Index to Folklore Collections for Children (Gale
Research) ; and Ten Traditional Tellers (University of
Illinois). Her award winning folktale picture books
include: Mabela the Clever; Tunjur! Tunjur! Tunjur!: A
Folktale from Palestine; and The Great, Smelly, Slobbery
Small-Tooth Dog. Formerly a specialist in Children’s Services with
the King County Library System, MacDonald now tours internationally offering
storytelling workshops and performances. MRM teaches with the Lesley
University Integrated Teaching Through the Arts program, and has served as a

Miryam Jannol, MA, Workplace Literacy
Associates CEO and Literacy Trainer:
Miryam
Jannol is the Vice-Chair of the Community Advisory Board at KCET and has a
Master's Degree in Education, a Life Credential from both California and New
Jersey and holds a Reading Specialist Credential. Miryam has taught at
some of the Southland's premier private schools. At LAUSD, she wrote
and implemented curricula and co-wrote the B.E.S.T. program implemented by
Ceders-Sinai Medical Center. She now serves as the curriculum
developer and head trainer for the KOREH LA Project sponsored by the Los
Angeles Jewish Federation. Through Miryam's efforts, KOREH LA has
trained over 6,000 individuals who mentor elementary school children in
LAUSD. She also serves on the faculty at the Los Angeles City College,
focusing on developing Learning Schools and has taught and consulted for the
Los Angeles County Office of Education's Head Start Program. Recently
she developed the Volunteer Literacy Program for the Literacy Network of
Greater Los Angeles. A recognized expert in the field of literacy, she
has lectured at numerous State and National Conferences. Miryam is married
and has two adult children who enjoy reading.

Jonathan
Marmelzat, MA, MFT: Script Consultant and Composer
Jonathan
has been nurturing children’s creativity for 25 years as a performing arts
educator and curriculum consultant. He has written, directed, produced and
published literary, dramatic and musical works with students of all ages. He
holds a BA and MA degree in psychology and works part time as a family
therapist.

Vanessa
R. Heller : Elementary Education: Reading and Language Specialist
Vanessa
has a BA in Comparative Cultures and MA in Elementary Education: Language and
Literacy. She is credentialed in Cross-cultural Language and Academic
Development, Multiple Subject Teaching and as a Reading and Language Arts
Specialist. She is also a trained Cognitive Coach with 8 years experience
teaching in elementary school and an active parent in her community with two
young children of her own.

Dr.
Patrick Moser: Script and Language Consultant
Chair of the Department of Languages at
Drury University, Dr. Moser received his bachelor of arts degree in French
and English from the University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D. in
French literature from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Moser has
published articles and translations in Montaigne Studies, Cahiers de
littérature orale, The Sixteenth Century Journal, and The French
Review. Dr. Moser also teaches and writes on the history and
culture of surfing. His book Surfer's Code written
with Shaun Tomson was recently published by Gibbs Smith.

Mike Moser: Marketing and Product Brand
Cofounder
of Goldberg Moser O’Neill advertising agency, Mike has worked in the
industry for over 25 years. He has won over 300 national and international
marketing awards. Mike has propelled brands like Nike, Apple, Saturn and Dell
as well as some of the most recognizable names in children's products. His
book, United We Brand, was published by Harvard
Business Press in 2003.

Kelley Wright: Set Design
With
a resume too lengthy to list, Kelley has art directed and designed sets
for HBO, NBC, ABC and KCET productions and numerous films. Her father
produced The Carol Burnett Show, adding to her rich knowledge and expertise.
She won an Emmy for her work as Asst. Art Director for the 75th
Annual Academy Awards.

Susan
Danoff : Storytelling and Education Consultant
Susan is
the founding director of Storytelling Arts, Inc. Since 1996, this nonprofit
storytelling organization has served over 19,000 low-income and special needs
students and their teachers in New Jersey. During the summer she teaches an
annual storytelling institute for teachers at Princeton University. She holds
a BA in East Asian Studies from Princeton University and an MA in English
from Rutgers. Her book The Golden Thread: Storytelling in
Teaching and Learning,
was recently published.

Kathleen
M. Masser: Research
Since 1989 Kathleen has successfully
obtained grant funding and corporate sponsorships for educational
institutions, early childhood development centers, arts associations, social
service and production companies. She worked as the assistant director of
development for The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and on
the development staff as event coordinator for the Los Angeles Philharmonic
Association.

Richard
Shick: Post Production Visual Effects
Richard
has 43 combined TV series and film credits in digital compositing and
filmography. A sample list includes: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,
Peter Pan, Smallville, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
Everybody Loves Raymond and Home Improvement.

Greg Filkins worked with PBS in Rochester,
NY on many ground breaking projects around the world. In California and Tokyo
he worked for Disney for 4 years providing custom modified systems for their
productions and recording sessions. Greg worked as chief electronics engineer
for several Los Angeles recording studios and as an on-site specialist for
Warner Bros. He is a credentialed teacher for editing, camera and audio teaching
at The Los Angeles Film School. He is currently filming and editing a
documentary on the rich history of Drum and Bugle Corps.
